i see that the component 3 is labeled 480p/720p/1080i......i also read that the tv uses 720p as its "native" mode...my question is when cbs HD broadcasts in 1080i what does my tv display? when some other station broadcasts in 720p what will i see? and will i be dissapointed with any conversions that take place that show the broadcast in anything other that its original resolution?

If your TV is native 720p is most likely converts 1080i to 720p...trust me it all looks great. My TV is native 1080i, and I beleive CBS just did the SB in 720p, my HD box upconverts it...it looked FABULOUS!

The set will convert 1080i to 720P. In fact, it converts everything to 720P.

I don't think you'll be disappointed at all with the 1080I->720P conversion. I just finished watching the Super Bowl (which was 1080i) and it looked outstanding on my HLN5065.
