Only have a little while to return it. Not sure what to do or if this is normal or really bad. LN46A650. Loosened the screws in the back per some advice, and it helped a bit i think.

your pics before backlight 7 I can't see a thing, backlight 7 little noticeable, and obvious on 10. Do you seen them in normal viewing? I have the same tv and I use backlight 5, I don't have any clouding or flashlighting but I have the S Panel.

check your Panel version.

If you look closely you can see it getting cloudy at 3. I would probably take it back. Theres a good chance your next one wont be as bad and you may get lucky and have none at all.

I sent an email with pictures to amazon just in case. I had similar problems with the LN40A650 and after one exchange they wouldnt do anymore. I don't want them to cancel my account for being a stickler or anything, but i figured it wouldnt hurt to send them an email so they know a potential problem exists if i want to do anything about it.

It's a tough call. I've had a boatload of problems with the ln46a630 series and the ln46a650 series.

Out of the 650's the first one I got had very minor flashlighting but was overall excellent - but it had two dead pixels.

The second one I exchanged it for had absolutely no flashlighting/clouding - the backlighitng was perfect - but it had a bad hdmi input.

I exchanged yet again and got a unit with flashlighting and a flawed bezel with numerous imperfections which wasn't glued on right and even had a small piece of plastic sandwiched in-between the bezel/body of the TV in one spot which had obviously gotten stuck there during the manufacturing process.

At this point I'm sick of the exchange game and will just stick with this latest one and be glad that it doesn't have dead pixels etc.

Samsung have really let their quality control go to hell. It's a shame because otherwise the series offers great features and contrast ratio - but it's nigh impossible to get one that does not have a problem.

I can't even see anything until the 'backlight 7' pic. What backlight level do you start to see any trouble? What is the source device, and what are your settings for:

mode

brightness

contrast

black adjust

dynamic contrast

gamma

hdmi black level

energy saving

default modes, energy saving off, and hdmi black level normal. its annoying because it catches my eye. like if im looking at the center, the left and right corners catch my eye. bah! its annoying because whether its letterboxed, or cropped and there are bars at the left and right, i see it.

its like i can see it almost regardless of backlight level (which i only use at like, 4 or higher so its visible). i just dont know if im being a stickler, or if amazon will be pissed im exchanging again after having gone through with this with a previous lna650 model.

I feel like energy saver shouldnt have to be set to auto for me to get the picture that i want, but whatever. It does help a lot.

HDMI black level is normal, and i get my channels off the air. My PS3 is set to:

BR/DVD - YCbCr

YCbCr super-white - Enabled

RGB Mode - Full
