I heard from a friend that the Pearl does proper inverse telecine?

So a video processor would not be needed for 1080p24 output from a 1080i60 signal?

The Pearl's IVTC processing is pretty good.


That having been said, while it is able to IVTC to reassemble the full progressive frames, it continues to display at 60Hz with a 3:2 cadence.


Thus, to get a true multiple-of-24 display from the Pearl, you must feed it 24p.

Yep, the Pearl is really good at de-interlacing NTSC.


PAL, on the other hand, is really, REALLY bad. In fact it is so bad that I have to have my old iScan pro connected to keep me from going nuts. I suspect that there is no IVTC for PAL based material.


Does anyone know if it does IVTC on PAL based HDTV material (if [email protected] is considered PAL)?
