I haven't gotten a good answer to this question from reading posts. I know in CD playback there is great variability in sound quality depending on the player. How much of a difference does the player make with 5.1 sources?
When I switched from a Piuoneer DV-F07 to an SDI modded Technics DVD-A10 the CD sound quality was a night and day difference. The Pioneer was up there with some of the better high dollar CDPs I had heard. In my system,a friend with a Rowland/Meridian system thought mine was compoarable. The Technics was unlistenable for CD but sounded good with DVD.
I switched from a B&K receiver as pre-amp to a Lexicon MC-12B and now the Technics sounds great for CD playback. This is my second question. What proportion of sound quality is the player and what is the processor/pre?
Regards,
Dave
