I'm not getting it going!

Your card will only accelerate H.264 decodiing if the decoder program calls the appropriate driver APIs available with recent driver versions.

What driver release from the Nvidia web site are you using?

Are you running the Ultra versions of PowerDVD or the regular versions?

As to PowerDVD 7.3, it's the ultra version. The PowerDVD 8 Demo doesn't seem to be the ultra.

And my current driver version is 180.48

Try rolling back to 178.13 or 178.24 and see if you get any improvement.

I tried 178.24 (uninstall, driver sweeper in safe mode, installation of 178.24), but it's still the same :-(


One more thing I noticed (with every driver version so far):

In PowerDVD I can check the hardware acceleration (Nvidia PureVideo) box in the config dialog and it stays checked if I restart PowerDVD.

But as soon as I drag a HD video in and it starts playing, the box is no longer checked.

In PowerDVD 7 the box grays out then. In PowerDVD 8 it doesn't, but checking it isn't persistent and doesn't change anything.
