Looking at buying one to run plex. My old PC has trouble playing 4K H265 video. The files are huge.

I play 4k hdr mkv rips with lossless atmos perfectly on the shield with plex. No shortage of power on the shield.

What data rate are your UHD movies if i can ask? Are you using the 2017 shield i guess it does not matter if the 2015 uses the same chip.

I assume you are pulling your movies from a NAS or USB hard drive connected to the shield?

Thanks for the info.
The Shield is fully capable of handling 4k 1:1 rips.

Library is on nas, gigabit switch, I've seen data rates up to 80Mbps - but to be honest I haven't paid that much attention.

I use plex - server on a pc, media on synology nas, 2017 shield.

Nvidia shield can handle 4k. We've used it lots of times and never had a problem with it.
