Virtually ALL AVR receivers today have a 6 channel Direct input feature including the DA2ES. However carefully note that unfortunately most DVD- Audio players do not have built-in bass managers for their 6 channel analog outputs. Therefore if U are using a subwoofer/satellite 5.1 speaker system, a bass manager is required for the proper bass redirection capability. If not included in the AVR then U will be applying a full range signal to a smaller satellite which is not capable of handling these. The only AVR with built-in bass manager under $2000 is the Harman/Kardon AVR 525 and its SRP is $999 and can be found for much less if U shop around. Also refurbs are available as well. Note that Outlaw(ICBM) does sell an external Analog Bass Manager but it is like $275.
If U are using full range speaker systems then no problem since each speaker is capable of handling the lower bass frequencies and no bass redirection is required. Once U get the system fully setup, U will enjoy the growing releases of DVD audio and they can sound tremendous..
