After you get help with your audio issues, wpuld you mind posting a short review of your U7G in the LCD Display Hisense U7G forum?
Hisense U7G eARC Issue Demonstration.MOV
Here is a link to a video demonstrating my issues
Setup:
Xbox Series X > Hisense U7G > Onkyo TX RZ830
Both TV and AVR support eARC.
When running at 4K120 and Dolby Atmos passthrough on xbox to dolby atmos passthrough eARC on Hisense to receiver, the audio skips and sometimes just completely goes mute. I believe the HDMI port is hitting a bandwidth limitation with these settings and cannot effectively pass on the Dolby Atmos to my receiver. When watching any video content on these same settings, the audio issue is not present, since most video content stays below 60fps, obviously.
When setting the Xbox Series X to 1440P 120fps, the audio issue is now gone.
Additionally, I believe there is a slight ~ 100ms or so audio delay when using eARC rather than going through my AVR to TV.
QUESTIONS:
Is this audio skipping issue of “4K 120fps > TV > eARC Dolby Atmos to capable AVR” common amongst TV’s with HDMI 2.1 compatibility?
Or is this issue solely with my Hisense U7G and are there any known fixes?
48gbps is needed for 12bit. There are no 12bit panels so 40gbps is fine. And most tv's and receivers only support up to 40gbps anyways. So Xbox series x has a 40gbs bandwidth limit. Hdmi2.1 4k120 with 12bit and 4:4:4chroma goes above that and ive found it causes earc failures to recievers and prepros and sometimes even reverts to vga 640x480.
My solution was Drop color bits to 8bit on the Xbox. The difference is negligble and allows you to get a full run at 4k120 and push earc 13.1 channel atmos through a certified hdmi 2.1 cable.
Hopefully the refresh of xbox series x will give us the full 48gbs pipe. 🤷♂️
