You will need to be looking for HDMI 1.3.

Two anounced at CES: Sherwoord NewCastle R-872 and R-972 (August).

More to be released from Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, etc. for sure. Most to hit the streets this summer-ish.

And in particular, please note the link to a writeup from Dolby labs given in post #30 of that thread. Page 3 of that Dolby writeup contains the important fine print.

You will discover that getting those new audio codecs in your next RECEIVER is a lot less important than you likely think.

In particularly, you will, most likely, not be able to use them when listening to HD-DVD or Blue Ray movie discs that come out this summer. Instead you will need a PLAYER with the decoders built in.

I think it's news to the vast majority that you don't even need them in your receiver to hear full TrueHD, etc. You let the player decode into LPCM and send to the (HDMI 1.1 is fine) receiver for D/A conversion. This isn't like the DD/DTS that we're all used to, requires different thinking.

In short, the ability to experience "HD" audio formats isn't a compelling reason to wait for an HDMI 1.3-equipped receiver.
