Hello all, I am new to the projector world, and am trying to figure everything out. I am looking at a Sim2 Domino 30, and have seen it, but I want input as to how good it is. In reviewing this and other websites, I like what I hear about the Infocus 5700/7200/7205. The domino and the 7205 seem to be in the same $ ballpark with the 5700 and 7200 being considerably less expensive. Price does have something to do with it, but if the more expensive ones are hands down better, then that helps. I would like to stay sub $8K.

Primary uses, dvd collection (800+), laserdisc, HDTV (and I love sports).

The room is a 16X20 and light is controlled (2 small windows - with covering). I would like a 103" screen.

I am going to try and see one of the infocus pj this week.

Any advise is welcome, even if there is another alternative that I have not mentioned.

Thanks in advanced,

Jason

Well all are excellent projectors. The IF SP5700 is a Matterhorn chipset, so it isn't really in the category as the others. The Domino 30 and IF SP7200 are both HD2 units, whereas the SP7205 is an HD2+ unit (latest technology). As for the chips themselves, there isn't a huge difference in performance. However, the 7205 is definitely a better unit then the 7200, but for additional improvements besides the chip itself. Personally, the Sim2 is a smoother more filmlike image, but also is not nearly as bright as the Infocus. You've seen the Sim2, but I'd really recommend viewing the Infocus' just to be certain. Each person is different so it is hard to say which you'll like better.
