I have a Da-Lite Imager Cinema Series 1.3 gain screen. I had noticed there was a very small sticky goo ball of sort towards the side of the screen. It was very small, however, wanting perfection I attempted to get it off via soap and water. BIG mistake. This wound up creating a small bluish tint patch on that part of the screen. Further attempts to remove it with soap and water and alcohol were ineffective. I queried Da-Lite about it and found out that the material is not washable at all and nothing can be used on it! Just dandy. It does not appear that having attempted to clean that patch caused any further damage, but had I have known this ahead of time I would not have tried to remove this foreign object. Fortunately you cannot see this smudge when a movie is playing, however, you can when a movie is not playing and you look at the otherwise white screen. This is going to bug me until the end of my days. Be warned if you have a similar screen.

Wow... Thanks for the info... I noticed some "goo"??? on my HiPower B as well.. but I was fortunately successful in removing it.. Perhaps overzealous friends eating candy may have spewed on my screen... but I suppose the hi powers are a little more washable.

Ahhh.. sorry S2K... I forgot to tell you what I used.. Again.. the Hi Powers sound like their more washable.. I just used a Damp cloth to get rid of it. I WOULD NOT try anythign like Acetone.. for that may MELT your screen.. so be VERY careful about that.. Perhaps some industrial cleaner that you could get from Home Despot or something may work for you? But be VERY CAREFUL when you attempt this.. Try it in a corner where you won't notice it if it does something...


Or perhaps you should just leave it, if it only affects the screen when the movie is off... better safe than have a hole in your screen!

Hmmm, I would think that the high power screens would be even less washable. I say this because I would think they use a reflective coating? I believe this coating is why Da-Lite says not washable. Anyway, it obviously worked for you which is great.


I've got a blow torch, city permit, and a hazmat team standing by....

The Hi Power is washable, according to Da-lite's website.
