I ordered the Xpand X102's on ebay used about 5 months ago. Now that my battery is dead I realize there is supposed to be a key to remove the battery. I do not remember receiving one and was wondering if there is an alternative way to replace the battery on this device. Thanks.

Remove with a pair of pliers. Remove the rubber O ring on all new batteries. They can now be easily inserted and removed by hand. The O ring is strictly for moisture prevention so unless you're watching TV under water......

Xpand is going to send me a key. I am worried i stripped the holes too much and i totally broke off the plastic piece that sticks out. I find there to be no good reason that you need an accesory to remvove a simple battery. If i somehow keep my 65737 i will probably sell the xpands cheap and get the viewsonics or the 103s if there are no quirks like the battery.

Unscrew and open the glasses, that way you can get out the battery easily (been there, done that...) and sell the glasses or at least next time, pull out the rubber orring from the battery and it will be a lot easier to get it out next time. Don't forget that once you get the orring out, you cannot swim or take a shower with the glasses on.

Hate to tell you this, but you broke to much off. The key wont do any thing for you at this point.

So when you get it off ask the company to send a replacement cover as well...im sure they'll do so in the name of profit.

If not go to home depot and find a matching plug in the hardware or plumbing section. Wont look good but will fix the issue.

The cover is part of the proprietary battery assembly, which is why you can't go out and buy a battery at the drug store. New battery will come with new housing.

I too once broke the projected piece off the battery as well. However, I was able to remove the battery anyway by keeping the tool flat against the battery to keep the two projections on the tool in place.

Why are you guys ordering replacement batteries from Xpand when you can reuse the original battery housing with new batteries? All you need is a dremel and 5 minutes.....

...and your detailed directions (with pictures).
