I was watching the Astros/Cardinals baseball game the last two evenings, and noticed dot crawl that was particularly apparent on the baselines, and particularly on the arched line behind home plate. I was watching an OTA high definition broadcast on my new Pioneer Pro-910. When I switched to standard definition DirectTV/TIVO it was much worse. I checked the game on my direct view Sony CRT and the phenomenon was there too, but the picture was so much worse that the dot crawl was not nearly a noticeable.

I’ve noticed this kind of signal noise along railings, etc., in other OTA HD sports broadcasts. My question is how much of this sort of thing is to be expected with high definition signals?
