It relates to soft remotes--when you hit select it registers twice in the Replay unit.

Basically there is a way to have a 'software remote' - that is on your PC screen you would for example have a picture of a Replay TV Remote Control. You use your mouse to 'click' any button, and it would be sent over the local LAN to the Replay TV and issue that command. There was a feature that would also take a screenshot of whatever the Replay TV is currently displaying on the screen and send it back to your PC.

With a combination of the two you could theoretically completely control your Replay TV remotely. One use for this would be to schedule the recording of a show over the Internet. You would of course have to have the PC inside your network running to communicate to the Replay TV, and have some ports opened on your firewall.

This feature was one of the last features that made it into Replay TV's software and was never finished. Hense the 'double select' bug. When you 'clicked' select on screen it would send select twice to the Replay TV. Unfortunately it's unlikely that this bug will ever be fixed.

If you want to give the software a whirl, take a look here: http://rtvrc.sourceforge.net/index.html

They provide some sollutions to work around, It's not too horrible, main thing is you can't delete a show from the guide (you have to play the show, then delete it), and to watch a show from the beginning you have to play it, then 'jump' to the beginning with 999 or 0
