DRC Mode causing problems with SD content on my Sony KV-30HS420 CRT HDTV!!!

Here's the problem, whenever I view SD content (480i/480p) DRC Mode seems to be the cause of some horrible picture noise. Is there a way to disable it? I noticed that HD content looks great since DRC Mode is disabled so I was wondering if there was a way for me to somehow disable it? What's the name of the SM settings that controle DRC Mode?

Daddy has done it again! LOL man just take the TV out back and hose it off before pops gets home!
Ona side note DRC only works for composite and s-video right sources right? I have an xbr970 and im using only the componet inputs and it always says " feature not available" when i hit the button.
Yeah... AFAIK, DRC is Sony's take on 2:3 pulldown/deinterlacing, which would only be applicable for 480i sources.

You've got to give him points for persistence....
LOL For real tho. I don't know..., daddy65 seems like a good guy, but it seems like his topics are joke topics! i'm not sure what to make of them! it's like once a week something goes TERRIBLY wrong with his Sony.
He's 14 years old and is in a panic 'cause he was messing around with dad's TV and hopes to get it "back" before pops catches on.

I think he only made one mistake. He messed around in the service menu of his Dad's TV and changed things without being quite sure what they'd do and without writing down the original values. Unfortunately, no one knows what he did, what's wrong, or how to fix it. But he just keeps on hoping....

It seems to me he's learning a valuable lesson in responsibility in a completely harmless way, but my vantage point is considerably down the road from his. I'm sure at 14 this would have seemed like a complete disaster....

Is this still the "dot" issue. Have you ruled out a problem with source/cables?
