Drivers dissapear for Dvico Fusion 5 Lite

776 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mshan
All was running very well until one day I decided to reboot...

When I got back into Windows (XP Pro) it prompted me with a 'found new hardware' dialog. It seems my Dvico fusion 5 lite dissapeared!

I have tried everything. I followed KAXKID's procedue for reinstalling fusionhdtv to the letter. I tried both the newest public and the newest beta versions. Every time I try to install, it gets to the driver section, uninstalls the old drivers, but then NEVER prompts me that I'm installing unsigned drivers, bla bla bla. It just copies a few files and then tells me I need to reboot to be finished. I even waited a few minutes, but nothing happens.

I tried changing PCI slots, upgrading/downgrading MB bios. I even installed XP on a different partition with no luck! Is my card broken? I doubt it because Windows still sees it as a Multimedia Video Controller. I just can't get dvico's stupid drivers to recognise the card!

Please help!

I have had the same problem with my Dvico fusion 5 lite card. When I had to reset the computer because of a lock up or even after rebooting normaly sometimes it would not recognize the card, after it restarted. It would see the card and say found new hardware but it would not load the drivers when I tried installing them.

What I found out was that it was a irq issue. What I had to do was uninstall the video drivers and removed the other pci cards. Then install the dvico card first and then the rest and it worked fine.

As far as losing the settings after reboot, I contacted dvico about it and they told me it was probably a defective card. I exchanged it and so far it has not happened again.

Similar problem happened to me with VBox Cat's Eye DTA-150 ATSC tuner card. One day I turned on my MCE 2005 machine and it said found new hardware and it refused to load drivers for DTA-150 ATSC tuner card. I returned the card for an exchange and problem solved. It was a defecttive card and yours probably broke. Exchange it for another card.

as i noted on another thread, the latest (3.40.04 ) alpha/beta? has more certified drivers, so you may not get the windows prompt about the drivers with this version. as far as the drivers not recognizing the card, try physically removing the card . while the card is removed remove the fusion app and drivers per my method. make sure you delete the dvico folder(directory) completely. re-boot your machine and check you bios settings, scandisk etc. let the fusion card sit on the desk for a while, play a couple games of spider solitaire while everything stabilizes. now install the fusion app and the drivers with out your card in the machine.

shut down the machine. un-plug the computer from the wall. (all atx machines are on all the time unless they are unplugged from the wall. ) check to make sure there is no dust or corrosion on the pci slot or card connectors. install the card and plug in the computer again. check to see if the bios has an option to re-set the configuration. enable that if you have that, its a one time option that will help with new hardware. make sure the rest of your bios settings are correct. hopefully that will get it back for you.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I will let you know how it turns out. I hope that I don't have to return it, as I am in Canada and there are no local resellers. I got the card from Ebay (new).

whether it was ebay "new" or not , you did have it working, so chances are you will get it working again.
I just got a lightly used Fusion HDTV 5 Lite from what appears to be a reputable eBay seller.

I got the card working properly, but then the program froze and I had to reboot the system and the drivers disappeared.

It seems that the only way to get Windows XP Home to properly recognize the card is to physically remove the card, reboot, shut down and install card, then reboot and reinstall drivers (XP now recognizes Fusion card instead of generic mulimedia controller).

Is there anyway other than physically removing the card every time the card freezes the system and takes out the dvico drivers with it?

Also, can this card co-exist with an ATI HDTV Wonder (if so, is there a specific order of installation that has to be followed?)?
