I was playing with a PC yesterday using dScaler/dShow 4.1.7 to play some various video file clips and changing the different filters and such to clean up the compression artifacts.
When I switched deinterlaced modes, I noticed easily visible differences and Tomsmocomp looked best to me just as it had when playing back DirecTv/Tivo through a capture board.
My question here is: why? mpeg1 is already progressive scan so what else is going on in the deinterlace modes that would produce visible differences?
Secondly, what modes and settings do other people prefer for playing back lesser quality video files?
