is the resolution of dscaler output affected by a higher resolution setting in powerstrip, say 540p vs. 720p? probably too late at nite for me to be thinking about this but if the video image is an overlay i wasnt sure how the video card resolution had an effect.


if its just the same as scaling a dvd i understand, just didnt know.

See in the beginning of this thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...threadid=88829 an explanation of the overlay and the scaling feature of vga card.


DScaler provides the overlay with a "low" resolution (720x480 by default .. different if "Pixel width" or video format changes) bitmap. Up to the overlay/scaling engine to bring this on the fly to whatever resolution you want.


Btw, as I understand it, scaling to 800x600 or 1600x1200 doesn't change a thing in terms of cpu load. Maybe the vga card is heating up a bit more ;) but the pc should not be slower.
