What is the difference in deinterlacing and scaling algorithms between dScaler on a HTPC and the ones resident in video processors such as the Leeza, Rock+ and NR?

Is the quality of deinterlacing and scaling somewhat comparable or not really?

Hi Gabe--

Both the Rock and Leeza are based on a PC architecture. I would attach the following values...

Deinterlacing (Film) = too close to call

Deinterlacing (Video) = jury's still out, DScaler has a new algorithm

Timing = probably the Rock and Leeza

Scaling = probably the HTPC, considering that you can put a Radeon in it

There are other algorithms in the Rock and Leeza versus DScaler and vice-versa, so the comparison isn't necessarily 1-to-1. Also, there are other considerations, such as DVI output, HD input, etc.

The NR is a different beast, especially since it doesn't yet have SDI input or DVI out.

The Vigatec seems like a really good scaler, but I don't know enough to tell for sure.

Good luck.
