I have two running on a line with two sets of diplexors. One after the first diplexor and a second after the second. My cable run must be close to 225 feet and I have NO signal issues.

I doubt they are hurting anything and if its working OK, leave it alone ...

I installed these self powered inline amps at the outputs of a Spaun multiswitch when I was having HD100 dropouts- of course they did not correct the dropouts (fixed by software) but they did increase the signal strength by a few db-is there any harm in leaving them installed?

Mark,

I also have the hd100. The drop outs your'e having is due to an antenna problem. You might want to re-aim or tilt your antenna. What kind of antenna are you using?

Because I also did have drop-outs along time ago, with Fox channel. But when I tilted my Channel Master 4221 bowie style uhf, this cured the drop-outs.

Here's a view of my antenna setup : http://www.geocities.com/peterd90745/MySatOtapage.html
