What is the difference between DTS and AC-3 5.1 digital sound?


Is there an audible difference?

DTS stands for Digital Theater Systems. DTS and Dolby Digital (ac3) are basically the same except DTS uses less compression of the original signal and therefor is better in theory. In my opinion DTS sounds much better then Dolby Digital, but some people might disagree. Anyway I hope that helps.

I'll second the fact that I find DTS to sound better.......just my opinion.

Just recently jumping into DTS (my old Pre/Pro didn't have it), I'll third the opinion that DTS does sound better. Of course this is subjective.


Problem is the dearth of DTS titles available.
