Okay, so this is for a commercial theater setup. But the specs are interesting as it is basically a HD storage system for DTS soundtracks. According to the press release, it can store up to 30 feature film soundtracks. I guess this can be further expanded with bigger HDs.

DTS theatrical has a lower bitrate than the DTS PCM LD and even the full-bitrate DTS DVD and their decoders were never meant to handle these bitstream. However, this XD10 is the first DTS decoder to be able to handle DTS 96/24 and DTS Neo:6. This may mean that it could also handle DTS ES Discrete 6.1.

For now though, DTS 96/24 is limited to 5.1 channels according to DTS' own literature. I think DTS should go further with this and develop a better codec/decoder that can decode DTS ES 6.1 Discrete at 96/24 with a delivery method of using DVD-ROM instead of the antiquated CD-ROM.

With the advent of digital cinema projection, all this comes within one digital transmission where 1080i video comes with all three digital audio formats (DD, DTS and SDDS). So far, only DTS is claiming 96/24 quality but only for home theater uses. Wouldn't it be great to watch a new movie in a theater with a higher audio resolution? Sans popcorn noises, of course.
