Hi Everyone!

I recently got a cheapy soundstream 7840NR with navigation and DTV. So far it's running awesome! For the $255 I paid I feel I am getting my money's worth!

The only issue I have is with the DTV signal while the car is in motion. Apparently you just can't get it with the stock antenna (DTV antenna).

So I was looking around and no one really says what works and what doesn't. Do any of you have experience with this sort of problem?

I have seen that there are amplifiers for the signal but I am still confused as what would be the best antenna for the job. I even used an in-house flat antenna (it measures like 4" x 8" and it works great!) but even it couldn't keep the signal locked in while the car was in motion.

For reference I'm running the Soundstream VIR 7840 NR http://www.soundstream.com/Video%20P...sh/vir7840.htm

and the DTV & navibox-1 add ons

Don't waste your time. You will never get a stable signal in motion with 8VSB. Mobile TV via OTA signals will use a digital subchannel with a completely different encoding system.

Wow and thank you for the excellent info and links to more info. That's what I was looking for!

So apparently I'm somewhat lucky being that i'm located in/near Los Angeles. So maybe soon we'll join NY in getting mobil DTV @ 60MPH!

That's unfortunate but I wish this info was more clearly out there because no one mentioned the tv is only good if you're stopped. I wonder how much of a drain the head unit with tv running is on the battery. Should I be worried? Probably not unless i'm trying to watch a game right? hahaha

Ok thanks again!
