The Hipix software needs a new feature: The ability to deal with more than one hipix card in a system. This way one could record one show while watching another.


And don't limit it to just two hipix cards, the networks like to schedule their good shows against their competitors good shows, and crud against crud. so there could be 3 or 4 shows one would want to watch scheduled simultatiously, and hours of garbage on all channels afterwords.

At some point however you will run out of bandwidth on the buss. I think two cards is possible but beyond that may be a problem with PCI.


Why not just have two or more PC's. They are cheap enough if you build them out of gray market parts.

Two computers take up twice as much space as one computer with two hipix cards in it. Also there is twice the noise and heat generated. There isn't a lot of room in a one bedroom appartment.
