I have a NEC HT100 (1024x768) and a Mitsibishi xx725 with 1280x720 in the same location, driven by the same electronics. Do any of the current scalers, i.e. the HD DVDO, offer the ability to output different resolutions through either the same technology(DVI or HDMI - 2 output terminals, one for each projector) or different technologies (DVI for one and Component or VGA for the other)?

I don't want to have to buy a supplemental switcher to control the direction of one output in the case of the DVI.

I presume you want to use each at different times rather than both at same time? If both at same time then think you are going to have to drive both with a 720P signal.

If at different times then you could use a splitter to feed the one DVI/RGBHVanalogue output to both devices.

I am familier with the Lumagen range and with those you could have seperate memories using different output resolutions. This means you could have single button pushes to change the output res going to DVI/Analgue outputs. You could have DVI and RGBHV connected up at same time to both displays and just use the appropriate memory depending on display device in use.

I am Lumagen distributor in UK.

I would expect smlar things could be done with other manufacturers products but I can't think of many that have multiple output resolutions all at the same time on different outputs. I imagine they exist but for commercial applications. Check out Aurora Multimedia as I think the DiDo might do something like that.

Gorden,

Are you saying, on the Lumegen, if I connect the component or VGA to the NEC and the DVI/HDMI output to the Mitsibishi each output will have its own memory containing the resolution for its projector. If this is the case, then does the remote have a button for each output for the switching?

How about two different DVI/HDMI digital outputs with independent memories that are switchable? If the Lumegen does not have this, will the next new model have it? It seems like this is where the market is going.

Also, my Direct TV is HDMI out, my BEV sat rec. is component out, my HTPC is DVI or VGA out, and my DVD player is component or DVI out. Will the Lumegen convert these to the two DVI/HDMI outputs?

Jack,

The Lumagens have mema and memb buttons. They have the ability to store up to 8 dfferent output resolutions and refresh rates. Each of these 8 can be tied to a different Input and memory.

The Lumagens have 2 component and 2 dvi inputs as minimum (they have other sd inputs you don;t need) .The HDP Pro has two RGBHV also. They will transcode all sources, digital or analogue, to DVI output. DVI or HDMI input signals with HDCP copyprotection will cause analogue outputs to be disabled (all HDCP capable scalers will do this, not just Lumagen). All HDCP protected digital sources will also have HDCP appled to the DVI output of the scaler. There is only one DVI output.

I am unfamilier with some of your sources as I am in UK. If you can tell me whether they are SD or HD sources and what type of DVD player it is I may be able to give you advice on how it would connect together most effectively.

I have my set up at home where I can swap between [email protected] and [email protected] just by changing mema to memb using my remote control. Hope this is of use.
