Dual Subs-How to

Do both subs have to be identical or very close in specs? I have two which are quite diff in power, and wondered if they could still be used as a duo.

From my experience, mix and matching different subs causes some crazy interactions in rooms sometimes.
It seems somewhat intuitive that it would. Thanks

Not at all...I run 2 somewhat different subs myself, in oposite corners of my living room. Run your spl meter for 75db on all your seperate channel speakers, when you get to your subs, switch one off and adjust the other, when adjusted, turn off and adjust oposite sub the same way...when done turn on and enjoy.

I have used a Cerwin-Vega HT-12 PWR and an SVS 20-39PCi in the same room. My results were excellent. I don't calibrate anything. I just use my ears. With a remote control sub, I can adjust them perfectly without any calibration of any kind.

All the Best

I have a friend that insists that Bose speakers sound awesome, but everyone here knows the meaning of "No highs, no lows? Must be Bose". There is a huge difference between sounding good to your ears vs accuracy to the actual sound mix. In this case, the term "perfectly" applies only to your ears. Speaking of Bose, I would almost put a properly calibrated Bose setup (as far as you can go with one, anyway) up against a non-calibrated setup (HSU, SVS, Velodyne, pick your poison) anyday. As for your dual HOs, you have a pure bred race horse that you are using as a riding pony (ie. you are settling for a small fraction of what they can do).
The difference bt the two subs is dramatic and it would probably be best to use the significantly better one by itself. I don't have access to equipment for calibrating and I might make it worse.

thanks for the suggestions

Thanks Fader

My riding ponies sound unbelievable. I had a pair of Bose 901s, I sold them for $25 less than I paid for them.

Kind Regards
