I tried to google, but could not put the right terms togther.

For my next HTPC 07 build (e6600,965p-Vista) I am stuck on case options.

I keep looking at the touch lcd units (anahix mce701) and I thought of something. If I was to get a MB with 2 pcie16 slots, could I run 2 different video cards? I have a passive x300 with only vga, comp, and svid out. Could I use this for the lcd touchpanel and put in either 8600gts, or ATI 2k (if ever available) in the other slot running separate resolutions, planning on hooking up to LCD or DLP RP 1080p. JB

Most likely, you could.

SLI-capable doesn't mean you have to use it as such, you can easily run 4 monitors of those two cards.

If you just need two outputs - touchpanel and TV - why do you need two video cards?

Almost any video card you buy today supports 2 outputs, even some onboard video does.

thanks for the feedback! I have not had much luck getting MCE or vista to have 2 different resolutions from the same card, besides I thought it would be a good use for this extra card ( I hate to have anything go to waste) JB

The two attached displays can be setup in clone mode (all specs the same), or "extended" mode (each display has its own).

In both modes one of the displays in primary and another - secondary.

It is important to keep in mind that the secondary display won't show video when using overlay, i.e. either use VMR or set your TV as the primary display.

Using more than one video card doesn't change those rules.
