I'm really struggling here and would appreciate your valuable support. I've searched for this issue and tried several 'fixes' but nothing seems to work as yet!!

I have a Dune HD Base 3D and is connected to my network, with multiple NAS drives. I use Zappiti and have it configured to work with the NAS - in short, everything works fine...until...

I have now attached a USB drive directly to the DUNE. This holds BD Rips (.ts files) so I attached directly rather than use the network for streaming such large files.

I configured Zappiti by using the menu optons for drives attached to Dune. When I open Zappiti from my computer I can play these movies without any problem. However when I try from Zappiti on the DUNE I get the 'can't play url://...etc.' message.

I have tried configuring the DUNE by 'storage_name', 'smb' and tried adding 'DUNE' in front of the storgae name etc. nothing seems to work. The 'dune_folder.txt' file on the USB drive seems fine...

I'm not sure what else to do other than to attach the USB drive to one of my NAS boxes but then I'm concerned about the transfer rate...

I have looked at various threads so far and tried many different options. One of the issues I had was the DUNE wasn't using the correct WORKGROUP but that is now fixed...

Please help!

the important thing is the can't play url://...etc can you write the full error message ?

this is certainly a problem with the drive name and the dune path. Both needs to use the same.

I don't know well zappiti, but it should be something like this :

in your USB drive you should have at the root a simple dune_folder.txt with one line storage_name=xxxx. Put whatever you want in xxxx.

In zappiti the dune path for this drive should use storage_label://xxxx (same name)

I know that zappiti uses by default storage_uuid and sometimes this messed up with the storage_name. If you can use storage_label, you will force zappiti to use the correct storage_name.

smb should never be used for an attached drive.

That's only a guess...

Did you try to post on their official forum ?

Thanks for the response.

The dune_folder text file shows:

storage_name = STORAGE_824e8

In Zappiti I now have the path as:

storage_label://STORAGE_824e8

When I use Zappiti on Dune I see the message:

Failed to open URL:

URL: storage_label://STORAGE_824e8/Avatar/Avatar.mkv

I tried to set it as a network drive:

smb://192.168.1.165/BluRay_Rips_40284a46284a3ae4

and this 'works' - it stutters as I guess it's out to the network and back in again...

I am very confused - it must be a problem with the storage_name or storage_label but I can't figure it out at all...
