The model I was waiting for a while at a decent price (Unfortunately not yet available on Amazon)

It is for sale on the Dune homepage...(I'm just waiting for my refund with my mediaplayer stuck in a depot in Letland...But if I would buy Dune, it would be Pro Vision or Real Vision. Pro Vision with double memory but double price, or Real Vision with 2xUSB3 Ports instead of 1xUSB2 and 1xUSB3. And I'm still wondering if an internal harddrive is a good idea for me...)(I am forgetting the USB front ports...)
My Popcorn A400 has only 512 Mb Ram! I guess that 2 GB Ram for playing movies should be more than enough ;)
Seriously apart if Dune is moving towards Android 64 bits, I don't see any big advantages ...
And the Real Vision doesn't require a fan :). What is maybe missing into my eyes is a power switch button and a coaxial output for the digital sound. The rest I don't care.

I ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully this thread will get some attention. I'll post some thoughts once mine arrives. This will be my first Dune, coming from the Zidoo X10.

I'm concerned currently with the Dolby Vision VS10 feature. As I was discussing in another thread, the Dolby Vision VS10 processor outputs converted HDR based on what your TV reports it can display for HDR. If your TV supports Dolby Vision, then VS10 will always output Dolby Vision. There currently seems to be no way to force VS10 to output in HDR10 or HDR10+ if it detects that your TV supports Dolby Vision. If your TV doesn't support Dolby Vision, it will then output HDR10 or HDR10+ depending on your HDR settings and TV's display abilities. So VS10 does have the ability to output in other HDR formats but Dolby Vision is forced if your TV supports it.

That's a problem if you have a TV like mine. I own a 2016 model LG UH8500, which has a long-standing Dolby Vision bug that LG never fixed, which causes the screen to fluctuate in brightness drastically from shot to shot. Dolby Vision is effectively broken on my TV, so I always use HDR10. But since the Dune will detect that my TV can display Dolby Vision, if I enable VS10 it will output in Dolby Vision. There's no way to select a different HDR output format. The Zidoo has this issue too currently. I guess Dolby isn't considering that not all TVs handle Dolby Vision properly. You can of course disable VS10 and output HDR normally, but then you won't get the benefits of the VS10 processor.

VS10 apparently may offer better handling of HDR than the base chip's HDR processing, especially with banding and color gradations. So at least it's a nice option to have.

Currently it seems VS10 has an issue with elevated blacks on the Dunes and Zidoos. They're aware of it but so far there has been no firmware fix. So I wouldn't want to use it until that is foxed.

I'm not an expert by any means; I'm just passing on what I've been reading so far about VS10.

One thing I'm disappointed about is I was informed in another thread that the Dunes don't allow loading custom EDID files. The Zidoo allows this, so I would be able to create a custom EDID to disable the Dolby Vision reporting on my TV. Then VS10 would output either HDR10 or HDR10+, allowing me to use VS10 on my TV, bypassing Dolby Vision. It's surprising that Dune doesn't allow this ability.

I contacted Dune support earlier today and requested that they allow an option in the HDR settings for choosing VS10 HDR output, rather than forcing Dolby Vision if your TV supports it. I also asked if they could add custom EDID support. They told me they would pass my requests along to their R&D team.

Panasonic TV's now support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision...It would indeed be nice to choose if there is a difference in picture quality...(I am still watching Samsung UE32C6000 with fantastic colours until I know for sure what I want and why I want it...and a Sharp 40inch Aquos as PC Monitor/Moviescreen)

If anybody has a chance to test if FEL playback is real and not just ignored. "Supporting" FEL could simply mean the video plays, but ignores the FEL data. Such is with other players that are not something like an Oppo 203 or Sony X700.
Already documented by @markswift2003 (see here: Dune Pro Vision 4K, Dolby Vision FEL and RPU response...). The EL is being disregarded and BL + RPU is being used.
Please look at the thread for the Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo as these player have the same SoC and therefore playback capabilities are identical.

Finally I decided to buy this model even if I will probably never use HRD/DV features on a projector (too noisy on JVC N series). This setup should replaced my Popcorn A400 + Darbee.
Hope image quality will be similar, I cannot used anymore Darbee incompatible in 4k format and 1080p image scaling is now performed by the Dune.

However I am a bit puzzled by the BT remote. First of all a bit silly that there is no backlight :-(

But it looks like there are some missing keys such as backward & forward buttons to control the image shift that matters to me ! And what about Zoom, Audio, Subtitles, Top Menu buttons, etc Where they are? Is it an incomplete main remote control?
Besides V+ & V- buttons are nowadays most of the time useless because dedicated to analog sound!

Fist question: Is there a way to reassign keys?
Second question: is the model naively compatible with IR premium remote without using IR extender? It means an existing sensor part of the front panel.
Third question: is standard IR remote having a backlight?
Fourth: are there better alternatives? (especially BT ones)

In the worse controlled via IP Control is making the job but I prefer the physical contact on true buttons :)
Last but not least, can we remove antennas for BT connection, it looks erratic without!
Do we need both antennas, can we use smaller antennas. (only using rj45 cable, no WIFI needed)

Thanks for your thoughts

Maybe do try the Dune Control App ?...I do not touch the hardware remote anymore...Within 5 minutes a hardware remote felt like old skool to me and very limited...(I have no further experience with hardware remotes ,but do not see any light button on the picture of the Standard hardware remote...)
You can use I previous gen of remote if you don’t like the new BT remote with success …

In such case do you confirm that player has IR sensor on front panel?
Also is the premium IR remote reacting well according your experience?

Sometimes this is not the case like my Popcorn A400 and as consequence remote should point straight on the player to operate well. If it's the case I will adopt straight the Dune Control App (as kindly suggested by compingharry) and at the same get rid of those ugly antennas ;)
Its plays smoothie.
No issues at all!

Sold out at the moment but I will consider.

HDFury sells products that may solve the custom EDID problem for your TV. It may be worth your while to et in touch with them. My TV lacks eARC and HDMI 2.1 so I'm waiting for their new product to solve those problems.

Maybe Real Vision has no hardware On/Off button...that would be the only reason I would touch the hardware remote. Pro Vision has the On/Off button which I use on the device itself...all the rest I handle via iPad Dune Control App...For me, going back to a hardware remote is a pain in the bxtt...;)

Even with a power off button, the ugly red light is remaining on the front panel... (not ideal in my sleeping room!)
Workaround: my amplifier is providing a external power plug. In such manner when I am switching off my amplifier, Dune is out of power at the same time :)

And I will adopt Dune Control App. Though I don't understand how we can release nowadays a so poor BT remote with no backlight & missing buttons.

I am continuing now discovering the product.

Thanks compingharry

I asked Dune Support if they could include an Alfabetical keyboard in the Control App...I did not touch the Airmouse Control which came with Pro Vision at all...devious thingie...Be glad you chose Real Vision...with the planned updates coming this could get really interesting with the improving My Collection feature. And with a display capable of HDR10+ and Dolby Vision (Standard DV and LLDV) you have everything covered (Still watching Full HD  )

I believe so do.

I am still watching Full HD too. Using HDR/DV is too noisy with my beamer. Indeed fan is running at full speed.
And I am not convinced that this is far better than FULL HD + DARBEE like it was before with my Popcorn A400.
I'll try soon the DUNE + Darbee but for this I guess that I am obliged to downscale or force the Dune to output 1080p to be compatible with the Darbee. Next my JVC N serie will correctly upscale to 4k.

I am curious.
