For a couple days now, DVArchive has been unable to get the TV schedule. If I try to update listings I get error 211 messages. I went to Properties/TV Guide and tried the change Zip/Provider, and I get "Error Getting Providers" - and several retries got no better.

In all cases, I have opened my actual Replay unit in DVR Explorer first.

Any thoughts?

Do you mean you have to manually open your ReplayTV in DVA? If so, you realize that DVA should automatically discover and list all ReplayTV(s) on your network, right? If it isn't doing so, this would indicate some sort of problem on your network--probably a software firewall on your PC--that may also be causing your TV listings problem.

It only lists the ReplayTV when I select the "Open DVR..." command from the file menu. It opened automatically the first couple times I ran DVArchive after I first opened it, and then stopped. The same is true for the other copy of DVArchive running on my Linux server box (as "root").

I have no firewall running on either system, since I have a Netgear firewall/router between the cable modem and everyting else.

The guide download was fine for months until Friday, when I first failed to get the listings updated.

I had this problem the other day...I resolved the problem by deleting my preference file and relaunching DVArchive and reseting it backup. A bummer way of fixing it so you might be able to edit the preference file to resolve the problem.

Try clearing the TV Listings via DVA Properties and see if that helps. If not, find and delete the DVA_TV.xml file then try again. If it still doesn't work, as Loren Kruse mentioned, you can try deleting DVArchive.xml (or restoring one of the backups DVA automatically creates). If none of the above works, I would look into what is happening with my network that is causing DVA not to be able to automatically discover my ReplayTVs via UPnP.

I had to kill the DVArchive.xml file and redo the initial setup, but I was able to get the listings back. The Replay and Linux boxes both opened up automatically as well.

Thanks!

If you are using DVA version 3.x, then it is safe to delete the dvarchive.xml file-- DVA will rebuild a new one-although perfences, etc, will have to be reset. As j.m. suggested above, try renaming one of the numerous dvarchive.xml backup files first-if you have one that goes back far enough.

If you are using DVA 2.x, definietly do NOT delete the dvarchive.xml as all show data will be lost. The shows themselves are still available (mpg files), but the indexing is gone. The only way around this is to import each show back into DVA.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This forum kicks ass!!! I can't believe how easy it was to get my guide back but it is something that I never would've figured out on my own. So again...thank you to everyone who helps make this place great.
