I have windows XP SP2. I have the windows firewall turned off like everyone says. I have the linksys 4 port router.

It locates my replay just fine and I can set up a few download tasks. It usually completes the first one just fine then all of a sudden an error message is displayed about it cant find the replay. Also the internet on my computer is now gone.

Even a reboot of the cable modem and router does nothing. Once I simply restart my computer everything is back to normal.

I changed the download speed. I set it to 0 at first. The replay was off and was not recording. I figured maybe it was too fast so I tried 300. Still the same problem.

Dave,

This definitely sounds like a problem with your PC, not DVA or the RTV.

I would do two things...

1. Update the firmware in your Linksys router.

2. Update the drivers for your network card.

Also, if you have a cheapo network card, invest in a better card.

Which method are you using to update the firmware?

You could use the web-based utility...but I would suggest using the TFTP program that is included in the firmware zip file.

I got the firmware updated now. I was using version 3 firmware instead of version 1 which I have. Still the same problems. The internet dies after about 30 minutes of downloading.

It is almost certainly a network card problem. It possible it's the router, but unlikely.

I suggest you get on eBay and find a 3com 3C905B. They are old cards and go for about $5, but they always work flawlessly. I have five 3C905Bs on my network. They never fail me; always zero transmission errors. The last one I bought cost me $3.50 shipped. There's one closing in two hours for $1.00 plus shipping.
