I am about to start my final push to and try to find these jewels in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and would be interested if anyone has any Hot Tips?

I surprisingly found a few in different Bestbuy stores in October and wonder if anyone has found anything good in there recently. I also haven't been to Frys in the last half year was surprised how many they carried back then...How does there current supply look?

I wasn't impressed with Barnes and Noble in Denton, but am curious if any of the larger stores carry multichannel material?

I am a fan of Half Priced Books but haven't found anything there...Anyone else have any luck?

I'd love to find that rare Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies DVD-A or the Brother in Arms that so many people seem to have.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

your best bet for finding these albums is on line i am afraid. if you can find them at all.

I was in the area over Thanksgiving, and a large used record store west or SW of Dallas had perhaps a dozen used titles at pretty reasonable prices. There was nothing really rare at the time, but I did pick up Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" DVD-A which isn't exactly common. It would be worth dropping by to see what they have -- I can't remember the name though. A well known store, right off some interstate exit.

Privit1 is right -- it would be easiest and cheapest to pick up the rare titles online, unless you REALLY like the thrill of chasing them down locally. I have found rare titles in brick-and-mortars during my travels, but they have been few and far between. Be patient with eBay and Amazon, and you'll land them eventually.

Fry's Electronics in Garland and Irving still has a few SACD and DVD-A discs...other than that, you might want to call Forever Young records in Grand Prairie (by far my favorite record store...has to be seen to be believed).

That's the one I visited. I thought the vinyl prices were horrendous, but they had a small section of DVD-As & SACDs at realistic prices. Also think I saw a few hybrid SACDs scattered amongst the CDs.

One of the largest selections of vinyl I've ever seen, certainly impressive in that regard.

This place is Great. As big as an airplane hanger and filled to the rafters with music.

Picked up Tommy on DVD-A.

Their vinyl prices are indeed crazy. I do not know how they sell any. They are only a few miles away but I have never purchased an LP there.

Plenty of SACD (unfortunately not DVD-A) Brothers In Arms, on flea-bay.

Hey locomo--The link you provided was the DVD-A although it wasn't catagorized as such...I picked it and the Alan Parons Project with free shipping to DFW...Thanks for the heads up.

If you are interested in surround music, there's not a whole lot out there locally with SACD/DVD-A. Tower Records was my nirvana but it went out of business. Fry's collection of SACDs is dwindling; they may have stopped restocking a while back. Last time I bought SACD was at RMAF 2007 in Denver, Co.

The most prominent future outlet for surround music seems to be blu-ray. The format can support 5.1 24/192 audio tracks in addition to hi-def video. Titles are few titles at the moment but it's still early during the ramp up process. I prefer video to go with my surround music and Blu-ray is just the ticket (DVD suffered from lossy DD/DTS compression).

Regarding Forever Young's vinyl prices, I've purchased quite a few...it's worth it if you're into collecting because most of their albums are in pristine condition or you can find limited pressings. I agree it's expensive, but after being burned on E-bay and a bunch of other sites, I think it's worth it.

NOT SO FAST!

A month later after Tower.com informed they sent the Alan Parsons on Feb 10th, they let me know that Alice Cooper was no longer available...I never got the first DVD-A and responded that I wanted to cancel the order.
