DVD HD-845 reverting to 480p when shut off

I just purchased the Samsung HD DVD-845 the other day. I have it connected to my television Samsung HLN617W via HDMI to DVI adapter. The picture is great and I am very happy with it, but every time I shut the unit off it reverts back to 480p in the menu. Rresolution selection is set to AUTO in the menu and I am unable to change it to MANUAL. It will allow me to change the display resolution, but once the unit is shutoff it reverts back.

Also, in another totally unrelated issue, about 3/4 of the way through our first DVD last night, the sound (connected to receiver via optical) started to cut out. At first it was just missing sound, then it got so bad where my receiver started clicking back and forth as it would gain and loose the DD signal. I hooked up my old DVD player and no problems with the DVD or the receiver.

Not sure what is wrong with the sound, but it is definetly going back, just trying to figure out if I should get another one, or if there is no way to get the DVD player to save 720p I will get something else.

Well, just got done talking to Samsung support. They said the sound is obviously a defect and the unit should be returned for a new one. As for the video, he said the HD845 has an issue with the firmware that causes it to revert back to 480p when the unit is shut off. He said at this time there is no plans for a fix of this issue. He then told me that the HD850 and HD950 models do not have this problem and will correctly save resolution setting.

So I will be taking it back and back and getting the HD850, unfortunately the 845 is from BestBuy and the only place in town that has the 850 is Circuit City. Not really a problem, just more of a pain.
