Folks,
Be kind, I'm a newbie.
A couple of months ago I picked up my first CRT, a 1251. I lived with it for a few weeks being driven by my non-progressive DVD player via S-video. Scan lines galore but still fun to watch. A HTPC was not in the budget so I bought a TV-4000 and a VGA to 5 BNC cable. I'm running it now at 1024x768 and it looks great (to me). My questions are these. First off, what am I looking at? Is this considered 480P, 520P or what. Secondly, the Sony is telling me the horizontal frequency is 48.8khz and I know that this machine is capable of 61.5khz. If I invest in the HTPC what are your opinions as to the potential improvements from where I am now? As I said I am happy but I've been bitten by the bug and....well you know. Also, my screen is a DIY of blackout cloth and black felt border and I have total light control. I've heard mention of screengoo and I was wondering if anyone has tried spraying this onto blackout cloth and if so is it worth it?
