I felt i had finally made my plasma choice when I came across a thread saying lower resolution is the native resolution for dvd playback thus they look better on an sd plasma.I am between the panny sd42 and the pioneer 433cmx and was moving toward the pioneer for its upgrade ability and higher resolution and since dvds are the main reason for the purchase i am now at a stalemate. Will the panasonic playback dvds better than the higher resolution pioneer? I have not factored in progressive scan player since I dont have one but that can change if it helps.Any advice would be welcome. thanks Matt

My progressive scan DVD player goes into the HD inputs, and plays as 480P.

I can also use an svideo cable into one of the SD inputs, and the TV will line double the interlaced signal and display it as 480P also.

I think that the higher the display resolution, the better. I would always choose a 720 line display over a 480 line display, especially if the prices were close to each other.
