I just bought a Denon DVD-900 to replace my dead Pioneer DVD-525 and I was wondering if anyone could explain why both movie and CD sound quality improved. With both players my receiver is doing the decoding. The player is only reading 1's and 0's and sending them along to the receiver, right?

i'm really startled too when i switch between my Panasonic rp56 and my Malata 520.

i would have thought that the Panasonic was an all around higher quality unit, but i conistently find myself noticing "boy, this sounds really nice" when i watch something with the Malata.

i don't consider myself very audio-centric at all, but for some reason i do detect a noticeable quality difference.

very odd.

Wait a minute guys... you might get the "Its-just-ones-and-zeros" crowd mad at you... :)

Jitter, Jitter, Jitter...

You may also want to experiment with different cables, you may also hear some differences there too.
