DVD Profiler for HD-DVD?

436 Views 9 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  aaronwt
Before the new HD-DVD format was released someone told me that DVDProfilor would be updated to add support for HD-DVD (and Blue-Ray). Unfortunately this is still not in place... Is there any other alternative software out there that can manage HD-DVD (library software)?

DVD profiler has said they will not add individual format support until there is a clear winner. And when there is one, all the losing format titles will be purged from the system, nevermind anyone who wants to hold onto them :rolleyes: .

All of them are in DVD Profiler. The only way to seperate them, so you can view only the HD-DVDs in your collection, is to create a tag for HD-DVD, and whenever you add an HD-DVD just select the tag.

1. Click on Tools->Edit Tags

2. Click on Add Tag

3. Name the new tag HD-DVD (or Blu-Ray, or both) and exit the Edit Tags window.

4. Select each HD-DVD (or Blu-Ray) title and set the HD-DVD tag via the "Set Tags" window.

5. Filter your collection to show only DVDs with the HD-DVD tag.

For now, I'm segregating them so they'll show up together on the list. What I do in Profiler is change the title to include "(HD)" before the film's title, then lock it. The sort title needs to be changed too, so I put a period in front there.
I use DVD Afficiando. You can check out my lists in my signature. I like it much better than Profiler. Also check out v2.0 which is going to be very nice (once they get it completed).
hrm, I'm a paid user of profiler, the threat of deletion sounds like them unfortunately... still, it's a hell of a program - no offence, but those afficanado pages look like poop.

For now I've just been throwing them into the large pile (just topped 800 with these latest purchases!) - will be nice to filter by format, it can't be so hard that they can't implement that in a quick fashion.
I don't think there's much chance of deletion for HD-DVD. ;)

This is exactly what I did. It works for me and is very easy to separate the HD-DVDs once the tags are set.

Is DVD Afficiando web based only? If so, I'll stick with Profiler. I prefer to have a stand alone program instead of web based. Profiler is a great program IMO, which is why I became a paid member as well (and to get rid of the ads).

Ahh! I was waiting for a thread of this type!

I actually have a printout of all the DVD's I have in my collection "Coffee Table" style quite nice. The problem is that I have the collection numbers by alphabetical order. I wanted to redraw the collection number to do a printout of HD-DVD's (silly of me not thinking to do that BEFORE). What do I do?
I just jumped ahead and all my HD DVD purchases started at 500. I just need to figure out where to put the three BD titles I have. They are currently with the HD DVDs and I do need to separate them out.
