Hello,

Is anyone successfully using the PS2 as a progressive scan DVD player with a Benq 6100 front projector?

I believe I have the appropriate connections:

Sony --> component video cables --> VGA component input on 6100.

However, while playing a DVD and accessing the setup menu in PS2, it doesn't allow access to the "progressive scan" option box. It stays defaulted at "progressive scan off".

In reading the sony manual, it says your tv must be connected via component, and be capable of 480p. Which surely the PB6100 can do(?)

Also, I've messed with the 16:9 settings on both the projector and PS2, and haven't had any luck.

BTW, the projector confirms that it is in Y/Pb/Pr mode...

Could it be because my PS2 to component breakout cable is a $12 no-name, vs the $35 sony original??

Any ideas welcome,

Thanks,

Steve

Which PS2 do you have? My 30001 model won't do progressive scan DVD. You have to have a 50000 PS2 or the newer 70000 PStwo for 480p DVD (I'm not entirely sure which specific PS2 models).

My PS2 should be capable, I just bought it new 1 month ago.

And it does has progressive on the setup menu, but it's greyed out, disabling me from switching it to "on"... :(
