Why is it that there are some DVD recorders with sizeable combo hard drives on them (160-200GB), that don't offer the option of being able to record HD material? You look at a unit like the Toshiba RS-XT60 or the Sony RDR-HX900, it seems like they could have added the option (albeit at a higher cost) to be able to record HD content to the hard drive. True, it's not very feasible to dump any sizeable HD content from the Hard Drive to DVD, but not everyone necessarily needs or wants to do that at this point. I think these companies have missed a golden opportunity to allow for HD PVR functionality, and still be able to couple it with a DVD recorder to be able to dump SD conent to the DVD if desired. It seems like a reasonable bridge product to get to the HD DVD/PVR solution. Seems like the makers have it in their minds that all shows recorded to the hard drive regardless if it's HD/SD HAVE to be able to fit to the DVD media coupled with it, of which I don't believe all consumers have that mindset.
