I can't get my DVD-Rs to show in 16x9 on my PS3.

I've tried searching all the threads, but did not find this answer.

I just got a 2160. It gets its input from DirecTV HR20-700 via composite (L1).

It outputs to Samsung 16x9 TV via component.

HR20-700 is set to output 16x9 over composite.

2160 set to record 16x9.

Viewing the HR-700 playing through the 2160 shows up correctly as 16x9 on TV.

Play back of recording on HDD shows correctly in 16x9

Playback from the 2160 of recording on finalized DVD-R shows correctly in 16x9

Put that same disc in the PS3 and it plays as 4x3. (have to change TV to a zoom mode to see correctly)

Am I stuck with this (i.e. this is normal operation) or is there a setting I can change to make the DVD-Rs play correctly on other DVD players?

Thanks!

In the sticky at the top of this forum, the "what you see is what you get" section on aspect ratio made it seem like if I was seeing 16x9 wide screen as I recorded that I'd also get that on the DVD.

It appears that was not the case -- the DVD-R (it is finalized) is 4x3 -- or at least 4x3 like (the TV can zoom into the proper picture, but I was hoping I would not have to do that.

The DVDs burned with my now defunct Sony RDR-GX7 played as 16x9 automatically on PS3 -- no adjustments to PS3 or TV required.

If this is normal operation for this unit, may have to return it and keep looking.
