Hello,

I am new to this forum and I know that this question has probably been posted a thousand times before.. but I was wondering if someone can recommend a good DVD player to go along with a Samsung HLN567W DLP that I just bought.

I'm not looking to drop $2k on a Denon DVD-5900. I'd like to stick around the $250 to $400 range. What do you guys like ?

There are numerous threads on this same topic. You should take advantage of the DVI input on the DLP and buy a DVD player with either a DVI or HDMI output that scales up to the native 720p resolution of the DLP. The dust is still settling since lots of new players are coming out this spring. I have the same TV and preordered the Samsung HD-941 at Amazon (it should be out next month). The HD-841 is already out, but there is a better de-interlacer/scaler in the 941 (by Faroudja). A Zenith with DVI has received some good reviews as well. A Sony with HDMI will be available in Sept. I prefer the Samsung since it is the only one with SACD and DVD-A capabilities. I also prefer to buy from a local store in case of problems, and thus (unlike many here) do not recommend the Bravo or Momitsu, which have some reliablility problems, if you read the threads.

Thanks Bill.. Quick question regarding DVI. There is only one DVI connection on that back of the Samsung. What type of connection are you using for your satellite or cable? Are you using component or rather some sort of a DVI splitter ?

I use component cables between the cable box and the DLP. There are DVI switchers available, but I haven't bothered to get one. I think you'll see more of a difference with the DVI for the DVD player than the cable box (the latter looks incredible, very 3D like, on high def stations, even with component). Note that the Samsung 941 comes with an HDMI cable and an HDMI/DVI adapter to hook it up to the DLP.
