Maybe a dumb question, but can a DVD recorder also be a CD recorder? In other words, if I purchase a DVD recorder can I also hook up a CD player and record CDs?

That varies from recorder to recorder, but generally yes. For example my SONY lap top has one recordable DVD drive, but I've recorded many CD's.

Mostly - My iMac at home and my G4 at the office both have "SuperDrives" - Apple branded compo drives that burn or play DVDs and CDs.

I think he's asking about standalone dvd recorders (correct me if I'm wrong). AFAIK, most of these units do not record to cd as well...

Yes, this is focused towards stand alones. I don't have a CD burner yet so I thought that I would try and kill 2 birds with one stone. The unit I am specifically looking at is the new Yamaha DRX-1. I can't seem to find any info telling me one way or the other.
