Hi yall, i had my HTPC set up & working flawlessly, and then all of a sudden my DVD-Rom drive is now playing a lot slower. It won't play DIVX movies smoothly, so i tried DVDs and even those are playing choppy.

When i boot up, it says it's ATA33, which is weird. Im running Windows2000, but don't know where i can change the speed it's running at.

Is there a program or someway to test the speed or to speed it up?

Thanks

Mike

This happened to me a few weeks back!

Go into the device manager and right click/properties for your IDE controller. You should be able to select the DMA setting there on XP. If that doesn't fix it (it didn't for me) switch your IDE cables around a bit. For some reason I found that my DVD-ROM drive ran much better off the primary IDE controller. Since my primary and secondary are both Ultra-DMA capable...XP didn't care and things ran fine.
