I don't use a center channel in my bedroom system. I am thinking of getting a universal SACD/DVD-A player. Can I assign no Center channel in the player? I am assuming my Dennon will just pass through the signal and not redirect center info to the sides the way it does with cds & DVD-V ??

Thanks

I have the Pioneer 563A and it allows me to choose no center speaker. I believe that the center being mixed to the L/R speakers is a function of the disc, not the player, and every DVDA/SACD discc I have does this.

While a disc may or may not be mixed to use the center, the question is, will a player redirect the center material to the L/R in cases when the user selects No Center in the player menu.

Not all players will. You would need to find a disc where there is a strong center feed, and try it.

While No Center is a defined mode for Dolby decoding (and probably DTS), DVD-A and SACD players have a track record of doing things differently than DD and DTS decoders.

I would not assume a given player will support a No Center mode.
