DVD to SXRD - Aspect ratio question

I know this is a really lame question, but I'm lost. When I play a 16.9 DVD (new Toshiba DVD recorder/hard drive) through the SXRD, the picture is shown 16.9 but in a 4:3 box. Therefore there are bars on ALL sides. I hit the "zoom" feature of the SXRD to fill up the screen in the correct ratio. Is there a way to make the picture fill up the screen without having to do a "zoom"? Thanks very much in advance. .. Jeff
