I have a Denon 2910 fed to my Aquos LC-37G4U through HDMI.
If I'm watching an "enhanced widescreen" (anamorphic) DVD, I have it set to 720p (my tv's native res) and it looks great. I don't care about the black bars top and bottom, I understand why they are there and the PQ is excellent.
But on a "full screen" (4:3) DVD -- and I assume on non-enhanced wide DVDs -- I have to set it the DVD player to 480p in order to get the right stretching. My TV will not allow smart stretch or any other stretch or zoom unless it's in 480, apparently.
This is fine, except that I am sacrificing PQ and not able to use the cool upscaling feature of my DVD player.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?
