I am thinking of getting an iscan pro for my living room, which has a toshiba 61" 4x3 HD ready tv with vertical squeeze. I use this for DVD, DSS, HD (OTA and DSS) and some PS2 action. I am in the process of turning my den into a dedicated hometheater that will eventually be used for HD and DVD viewing and maybe some gaming via a 16x9 front projector. When this is done, the living room will be used only for non HD viewing from DSS and some PS2 games. I am wondering if the pro (at 399 bucks) is worth the money for the uses I described? I am just not satisfied with the quality of non HD tv from Direct TV not that I have seen HD. Thanks for any help.

The iScan Pro (or any of the iScans) is excellent for everyday TV viewing.

But be aware of the following:

1. TV set built in de-interlacers are getting better and better as the years go by so the difference in quality will be getting harder and harder to see.

2. No de-interlacer can clean up a bad or noisy (snowy) source program.
