DVI Input Question for Panny 42PAOU

306 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Spike59
I have read most of the material on here concerning PQ improvements for SD delivery. Ran an s-video cable last night from DTV box to the Panny and did notice an improvement in PQ. I'll test component when the new HD DTV box is installed.

Questions

1. I have not found anything on PQ when using the DVI connection from an HD DTV (Hughes HTL-HD) box to the Panny for SD material.

2. Does the DVI cable carry both audio and video signals to the Panny?

3. If it does, can I run one of the other Audio outputs from the HD DTV box to my Receiver? Or do I need to run Audio out from the Panny to the Receiver?

DVI is video only. You should be able to run an audio output from your HD box to your receiver. Usually you can run it to both your TV and your receiver from the HD box. For instance, you could run a digital coax or optical output from the box to your receiver and a simple analog out to your TV.
So is DVI a better picture than svideo or component on an ED Panny?
Its a Panny 42PA20. Sorry
