My friend just purchased the new Sony 32" WS Plazma TV. One problem I noticed was there is only one HD component input, the other one is DVI. He is using an OTA HD box that has no DVI, thus tying up the component and leaving none for his Sony Progressive DVD. I haven't seen any DVI to Component cables, yet I have seen DVI to DB-15 and I know there are DB-15 to component. Any suggestions?

I have never seen a DVI to component. But you really need is component to DVI. Is the DVI connection only digital or does it also support analog DVI? I suspect it is only digital DVI. Component is analog and DVI digital so I don't think this could be done with a cable.

I think Jym is correct: it may not work

even if you used a transcoder, the Sony DVI input is probably DVI-D only, so would not accept an analog signal

you could buy an OTA stb with DVI out, and connect the DVD via component

A component switcher sounds like the way to go.

Component switchers have finally come done in price. You can buy a new one from Audio Authority for about $185.00. I believe the model number is 1154.

Or there are many receivers that can do this.
