I recently purchased a Zenith 520 receiver which has DVI, RGB and Component outputs. My Viewsonic Plasma Monitor has all three inputs, however, from what I understand the Zenith is an encrypted DVI-HDCP output and the Viewsonic does not support the HDCP format.

I currently have the receiver connected to the component input. Would there be any advantage to using the RGB?

I believe there was a bug in the 520 that made it always try to

output HDCP flagged material over DVI. That bug has been fixed.

The 520 should work with a non-HDCP DVI input on your plasma.

As long as the plasma syncs to the HDTV resolutions it should work.

I used to have my 520 connected to my P50 plasma via DVI, but

now it is connected via component (Bravo D1 is on DVI). The DVI

input had a slight edge in PQ. If for some reason you can't get the DVI

to work, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I don't think you'll see much,

if any, improvement with RGB.

go to Staples or one of the office supply stores and buy a VGA cable the length you need and with the correct connector sex on each end. they cost about $10-15.

Give it a try and see for youself which is better with your gear.
